Jerry and Esther Hicks Built a Spiritual Money Machine
An excerpt from the preface... "According to an audience member’s transcript, Esther (in her Abraham persona) says she not only speaks for but is the same as Jesus and Buddha. Years ago, responding to a hot seat questioner, she shared that Jesus is a member of Abraham group, 1 of 100 or so teachers pouring ideas and advice into her head. You might say she pulled rank no one is likely to top." After thinking it over for longer than I should have, I decided to take my articles about Abraham-Hicks a step farther and write a book about them. Jerry and Esther Hicks' Spiritual Money Tree: Stories from the Abraham-Hicks' Teachings and the Law of Attraction was geared around analyzing the so-called teachings, as they have been promoted publicly for years, and challenging claims about what Esther Hicks say she does. I also thought that going over their handling of Jerry Hicks' death from cancer, which they still are unable to admit, years later, and how it was used to sell tickets over the months leading up to it. Abraham-Hicks Publications refusal to acknowledge that he is dead is either a ploy to encourage followers to believe he survived leukemia or, more likely, recognition of their inability to provide a rationale for why their teachings turned out so wrong. "There is no shortage of ridiculous statements from Esther/Abraham on the record. They have said, for example, that dinosaurs and humans once walked the Earth together. But the last dinosaur went extinct 65 million years ago. That’s 64.5 million years before the first modern man evolved. Humans, Abraham-Hicks teaches did not, despite the fossil and genetic records, evolve from an earlier species. No, they say, man was “a whole new idea,” a claim too bizarre for any but the most extreme fundamentalists and without supporting evidence of any kind. Some of it is just funny in being so off base. What strikes me as worse, apart from the coldhearted rejection of mourning, except Esther’s own, of course, are the occasionally dangerous slices of everyday advice dispensed at workshops."
